Work Plan

Breakdown of project tasks and their objectives

1

Requirements Elicitation

The primary objective of this task is to gather both the functional and non-functional requirements for our pediatric palliative care integrated digital platform.

2

Clinical data registry design and implementation

This task is twofold: 1) to design and implement the Clinical Data Repository, a secure data repository for storing clinical data related to pediatric palliative care; and 2) to design a detailed architecture for the integrated digital platform for pediatric palliative care.

3

Implementation of the Integrated Digital Platform

This task has three primary objectives: 1) to implement the server-side logic of our integrated digital platform to meet the functional requirements gathered in Task 1; 2) to design and develop the Graphical User Interface of our integrated digital platform accessible through a Web browser; and 3) to migrate pediatric palliative care data previously collected in an Excel file by the Hospital de Santa Maria Pediatrics Department team specialized in pediatric palliative care into the Clinical Data Repository constructed in Task 3.

4

Pilot installation and Evaluation

This task aims to achieve three primary objectives: 1) install a pilot version of the integrated digital platform at Hospital de Santa Maria; 2) conduct a proof-of-concept test with real users; and 3) evaluate the pilot version and incorporate improvements based on the feedback obtained from users.

5

Data Analysis and Prediction

The goal of this task is three-fold: 1) to develop descriptive learning approaches to uncover spatiotemporal patterns from pediatric palliative care historical data; 2) use classifiers trained on this historical data to predict patient progression; 3) provide useful and intuitive visualizations to inform decisions by the pediatric palliative care community.

6

Dissemination of results

This task aims to disseminate the achievements of the project to various stakeholders, both at the clinical level, with the pediatric palliative care teams from the wider pediatric palliative care network that may use the developed platform, as well as at the management level, with the Hospital de Santa Maria administration or other governmental entities that may consider the results as crucial tools for strategic national decisions. Additionally, we plan to present PiCaSSo's results at scientific venues related to Health and Computer Science.
